When Chen Miao met Zhao Gongzi, Shen Xi was beside him.
Before anyone spoke, Chen Miao could already feel the urgency practically spilling out of Zhao Gongzi. Shen Xi, by contrast, looked a little more composed.
If Zhao Gongzi hadn't told him beforehand, Chen Miao would have thought he was the one who had encountered the Blood Gate.
"San Shui, this is Shen Xi, my girlfriend. She's the one who encountered that Blood Gate. Could you..."
Before Zhao Gongzi could finish, Shen Xi tugged at him.
"Gongzi, let's talk when we get back. San Shui came all this way. Let him rest first."
Zhao Gongzi froze for a moment, then realized he was being a rather inconsiderate host.
"Right, right. San Shui, let's get something to eat first."
Watching them, Chen Miao smiled and shook his head. "Let's head back first. Food can wait."
Since Chen Miao had said so, Shen Xi didn't insist.
By the time the three of them returned to the shop, an hour had passed.
During the drive, Chen Miao had learned a few things from them, including how Shen Xi had encountered the Blood Gate and how she and Zhao Gongzi had met.
Chen Miao wasn't particularly interested in the Blood Gate part. Instead, he listened with relish to the story of Shen Xi and Zhao Gongzi.
He also learned why Zhao Gongzi had turned down so many girls in college.
It was because Shen Xi had already occupied a place in Zhao Gongzi's heart.
In a sense, the two of them were childhood sweethearts.
But at the end of their second year of high school, Shen Xi had moved away with her family.
Back then, Shen Xi hadn't had any particular feelings for Zhao Gongzi. They were just friends.
Zhao Gongzi, however, hadn't felt
