Although Chen Guokun did not know exactly which of Yue Xiaodao's earlier statements had been a lie, their last exchange alone was enough.
If his claim that he did not believe in ghosts was a lie, what did that mean?
Yue Xiaodao believed in ghosts. He might even have seen one!
Could the ghost here possibly be anyone else?
But why would he lie?
Chen Guokun looked toward the little wooden hut nearby that held Yue Na's ashes and asked Yue Xiaodao, "May I go over and pay my respects to Yue Na?"
Yue Xiaodao turned to Chen Guokun and nodded.
"Yes. Only one person can go. Too many people would be bad."
Chen Guokun said nothing. He nodded and started forward.
But after just one step, someone suddenly caught his arm.
Chen Guokun looked at Chen Miao, confusion in his eyes.
"I have all the supplies. What are you going for? Let me go."
Chen Miao spoke.
Chen Guokun did not understand. Just as he was about to refuse, he remembered what had happened with Wang Yating, and how Chen Miao had said his ability did not work where there were no ghosts.
Now Tong Yu had discovered that Yue Xiaodao was lying, and Chen Miao had suddenly stopped him. Didn't that mean...
Chen Guokun turned to Yue Xiaodao and smiled. "Then let my friend go instead."
As he spoke, Chen Guokun took a step back.
Chen Miao did not move.
Since a variable had appeared, the contents of the book should have changed too.
Ignoring what the others might think, Chen Miao immediately moved to open the book and check.
But just then, Yue Xiaodao spoke.
"He can't go."
Chen Miao stopped what he was doing and turned to look at Yue Xiaodao along with the other two.
