After the three of them stepped onto the ascending walkway, Chen Miao noticed more details.
There was more than one walkway connected to that building!
Chen Miao counted roughly five walkways extending from the building in different directions.
Besides those, Chen Miao noticed something interesting.
An enormous glowing stone was embedded beneath the building. Anyone standing on the ground and looking straight up at it would run into a problem.
Backlighting!
Because of the backlighting, people looking up from below could only see the building's outline. The glowing stone's light obscured all the details.
An interesting design. Was the Demon-Suppressing Bureau not to be gazed upon directly?
Soon, the three reached the end of the walkway, where an open doorway led into the building.
It wasn't that the door had been left open. There was no door at all.
They entered the building on its first floor.
It was a large hall. Kong Yue led the two men toward several counter-like windows along its edge.
"I'm Kong Yue, Junior Banner Officer of the Demon-Suppressing Bureau Fire Division. I've brought Demon-Suppressing Guards Chen Yang and Li Zhou to report for duty."
As she spoke, Kong Yue handed over all three of their tokens.
The Demon-Suppressing Guard behind the counter took the tokens and tossed them into a compartment behind the counter.
Like an elevator, the compartment rose upstairs through a channel in the wall.
The three didn't have to wait long. Within half a minute, the compartment came back down.
The Demon-Suppressing Guard took the three tokens out and set them on the counter, then looked at the extra slip of paper inside.
A moment later, the guard looked at the three of them and said:
"Your squad will patrol Gui District in Star Ruins. Each day, your shift starts before
