Mo Yun suppressed his aura, concealing himself entirely in the darkness as he raced along the trail of the great black serpent.
About an incense stick's worth of time later, he stopped at a shoal beside the Clear River.
Gazing at the relatively calm stretch of river before the shoal, Mo Yun frowned slightly.
"The demon's aura vanished right here?"
Resonating with the mystic energy particles in the air, Mo Yun pushed his perception to its limit.
Yet after carefully searching the surrounding area, he returned to the same shoal.
At last, Mo Yun reached a conclusion. "There's something strange about this river-or rather, this particular stretch of it."
He had found no trace of the demon's aura within nearly a hundred kilometers, leaving only one possibility: the demon had burrowed down to the riverbed!
The problem was that Mo Yun had already scanned the riverbed with his perception and found nothing unusual. Even the Black-and-White Seal on his wrist had not grown hot.
"The Black-and-White Seal might not be heating up because the water's too deep, putting it beyond the range of its instinctive craving."
"But not being able to sense the demon's aura is a much bigger problem..."
Mo Yun slowly exhaled. "Can the river's surface interfere with my perception?"
"Could there be an array that conceals auras?"
"Can demons use arrays too?"
"Or has a natural field domain formed on the riverbed?"
After a morning of study, Mo Yun had gained a little understanding of many subjects.
A field domain was actually a type of array, only more specialized and generally far more powerful. It required special methods to harness the grand forces of heaven and earth.
Given enough preparation time and sufficiently favorable terrain, a badass field domain master could even lay down a supreme field
