Hearing it from Tang Sanzang's own lips, Guanyin was stunned.
"Sanzang, you-you sent Wukong, Bajie, and Sandy away? Who-who will protect you on the rest of the road to the Western Heaven?"
Then Guanyin froze for a second before immediately asking about the matter that directly concerned Tang Sanzang's Scripture-Seeking.
Things had indeed taken an unexpected turn. Guanyin had no time to sort out anything else; this was all she cared about.
"Bodhisattva, this disciple has thought it through. Those who follow different paths cannot make plans together. Since Wukong, Bajie, and Sandy couldn't get along and wouldn't really listen to me, I might as well let them leave."
Tang Sanzang thought that Guanyin and the others really did care only about the Journey to the West. No one cared about his feelings.
His heart went cold, but he remained perfectly calm on the surface as he said, "This disciple can travel west alone."
"Sanzang, you..."
To Guanyin, Tang Sanzang's calm demeanor probably meant that his heart had turned to cold ashes.
"Bodhisattva, this disciple is fine. I won't delay the scripture-seeking mission. I will continue west now."
Tang Sanzang waved a hand as though nothing had happened, then picked up the luggage from the ground by himself again and somewhat clumsily loaded it onto the White Dragon Horse's back.
Then, all alone, he led the White Dragon Horse onward to the west.
Stubborn.
Guanyin stood rooted to the spot, looking at a stubborn Scripture-Seeker traveling alone.
Had-had they taken this trial too far? It had only been meant to test how well the Scripture-Seeking Party could work together. Who would have thought those four fellows, each with a different temperament, would ultimately fail to mesh and part on bitter terms?
Even Guanyin felt a little regretful.
But as she
