With that, the five Great Sages soared into the sky and vanished in an instant.
After watching Bai Ze and the others leave, Tathagata narrowed his eyes and said, "Though the Demon Race has declined, Bai Ze is an outstanding talent of this age. With Great Sun Tathagata Buddha's fall, the position of patriarch of the Demon Race will likely pass to him!"
Randeng approached and said, "Buddha, we cannot move against Jiejiao now. What should we do?"
Tathagata pondered for a moment before saying, "Ancient Buddha, the various powers are now competing in the contest of schools of thought in the mortal world. The Human Teaching has Daoism, Jiejiao has introduced Confucianism, and the Chan Sect has introduced the Legalist School. Let us also begin by competing for fortune through the Human Race's schools of thought!"
Randeng nodded. "Amitabha Buddha's doppelgänger, Mozi, has already been spreading our teachings among the Human Race and has gained considerable momentum. However, Jiejiao's Confucian doctrines happen to run directly counter to ours. The contest of schools of thought among the Human Race has all but become a three-way struggle between Confucianism, the Mohist School, and the Chan Sect's Legalist School. Though the other factions number a hundred schools, they are hardly worth mentioning!"
Tathagata nodded. "Indeed. I have examined the Confucian doctrines. They are essentially drawn from Jiejiao's teachings and adapted for preaching among the Human Race, yet they stand in direct opposition to our Mohist School. Though the Legalist School has begun to dominate among the Human Race, Confucianism insists on targeting our Mohist School. The struggle between Confucianism and Mohism has become one of fire and water!"
During the Hundred Schools
