Fuxi sighed at this and replied, "Were it any other matter, I could decide for myself. But apart from me, none of the other Human Sovereigns are willing to let the Demon Race off. My hands are tied!"
Hearing Fuxi's words, Lady Nuwa could not help sighing. Then she said, "Had I known it would come to this, I would have stopped Di Jun and Taiyi from slaughtering the Human Race back then, even if it meant defying the Heavenly Dao's will."
A trace of regret crossed her face as she finished.
Hearing this, Fuxi hurried to comfort her. "Sister, you need not dwell on it. Such was Heaven's will! Even if you had intervened, something else would surely have happened to set the Demon Race and the Human Race against each other. This is the Heavenly Dao, beyond mortal power to defy."
He paused, then continued, "In truth, you need not worry too much! You are the Human Race Holy Mother, and I am a Human Sovereign. As long as we both work at it and bring about gradual change, we should be able to dispel the Human Race's resentment over time. Besides, though the Demon Race's circumstances are difficult now, they still have a place to stand. We need not be too pessimistic!"
With that, he looked at Lady Nuwa reassuringly.
Lady Nuwa's spirits lifted at his words. She smiled at Fuxi and said, "You are quite right, Brother! We both have deep ties to the Human Race now. If we put in some effort, easing relations between the two races is not impossible!"
Fuxi rose and said, "Sister, I must take my leave. These are the changes I discerned after exhausting my calculations of the Heavenly Secrets. How you choose to act is up to you. Farewell!"
