Under normal circumstances, doppelgangers could not fuse with one another. They lacked souls to support them, and the swelling of a soul could very well damage them.
However, the Demon Emperor had prepared for this long ago. He had deliberately split off a doppelganger that carried a soul, though its soul power was so weak that ordinarily, no one could tell anything was different.
The Demon Emperor's doppelganger frowned. "I didn't expect something to actually go wrong. It looks like I'll have to find a way out."
He carried the fruits of all their efforts over the past several days. If he could not find a way to bring the doppelganger back,
it would be a tremendous loss for the Demon Emperor.
The Demon Emperor carefully went downstairs and headed out of the library. This place was far too conspicuous; in his eyes, it was extremely unsafe.
Just as he was about to leave the library, however, the librarian suddenly spoke. "Little fellow, you're diligent and eager to learn, but your head doesn't work too well."
"Didn't you notice how quiet the library is? Going outside now would be courting death!"
The Demon Emperor looked at the librarian in confusion. "???"
The librarian pointed at the Perfect Gods around them. "Stay here quietly and keep reading your books. Whatever happens, no one will disturb the library. That's the rule of our Border City Library."
As they spoke, one Perfect God after another rushed in from outside, followed by a crowd of ordinary Primordial Gods and Great Accomplishment Gods.
Once inside the library, however, they became very quiet. They put on a convincing show, picking up books and beginning to read, with none of the panic they had shown when they first entered.
The Demon Emperor's doppelganger froze for a moment.
