Ch. 1741A solution.
Plot points and events
- Origin Spirits on the enemy side can copy the strength of Overlords, making it too dangerous for Demon Emperor Daochen and other Super Overlords to fight freely. Daochen is frustrated at being forced to hold back.
- The battle worsens as some Hongmeng Realm copies fuse with monsters, sacrificing their memories and independent minds to become mindless fighters.
- Qingpingzi urges patience and reveals that technological weapons have been requisitioned. Origin-powered cannons and missiles are deployed, inflicting heavy damage and stabilizing the retreating defensive line—though their limited origin reserves cannot sustain them indefinitely.
- Enge reports that the attacks are coordinated from a command center inside the dense fog. The Eternals have concluded that the Shadow Monsters may have destroyed the Grand Void Passage to prevent ascension and consume the vast battlefield world.
- The Eternals agree that the war between their faction and the Chaos Faction must stop so they can unite against the Shadow Monsters. The Chaos Faction, too, has discovered infiltrators and is trying to restore order.
- Enge then secretly binds Daochen with rings of light. He explains that the Eternals need to investigate the source of Daochen’s world power, which Shadow Monsters and their copies cannot reproduce. Daochen accepts the idea of studying it, but Enge hints that Daochen is not the only person in the Primordial World who possesses world power.
Character developments and interactions
- Daochen shifts from impatience and helplessness to cautious cooperation. He recognizes the threat but dislikes being restrained and is startled when Enge suddenly captures him.
- Qingpingzi acts as a practical adviser, discouraging Daochen from rushing into danger and bringing out the weapons needed to hold the line.
- Enge becomes the messenger of a major strategic alliance, then personally restrains Daochen to secure access to his world power. His apology suggests the act is politically necessary rather than openly hostile.
- Daochen and Qingpingzi initially question the Eternals’ delayed response; Enge acknowledges that the conflict between the factions had distracted them from the greater danger.
Significant themes
- Cooperation against a greater threat: Old enemies must set aside hatred when the Shadow Monsters threaten everyone.
- Power and its limits: Super Overlord strength becomes a liability when it can be copied, while world power offers a potentially decisive advantage.
- Sacrifice and identity: The copies’ fusion into monsters shows the cost of surrendering memory and individuality for combat strength.
- Trust and coercion: The alliance requires cooperation, but Enge’s sudden restraint of Daochen raises questions about consent and how far leaders will go to obtain a weapon.
