The three of them sprinted after the White Wolf in the direction it had fled. Under normal circumstances, they would never have been able to catch up to a White Wolf that came and went like the wind.
But the White Wolf's hind leg was injured now, slowing it down considerably and giving Hoshi's group a chance to pursue it.
Following the scattered drops of blood on the ground, Hoshi and the other two chased the White Wolf deep into the dense forest.
The White Wolf had no time to stop and tend to its wound. Combined with the strenuous movement, it continued to lose blood, and its speed grew slower and slower.
As it slowed, the distance between it and Hoshi rapidly closed. Just as they were about to catch up, the White Wolf looked into the distance before turning back toward the three of them and letting out a menacing howl.
But Hoshi and the others were unmoved. They stopped a short distance in front of the White Wolf, drew their weapons, and faced it in a standoff.
Shinku's Genjutsu was of little use against Ninja Beasts, so unlike Hoshi and Sakumo, he did not step forward. Instead, he remained where he was to provide ranged fire support.
Aside from Genjutsu, he was also highly skilled at throwing weapons. He had provided timely support many times when Hoshi and Sakumo had been surrounded.
After exchanging a glance, Hoshi and Sakumo stepped forward together and began fighting the enormous White Wolf.
This was Hoshi's first time fighting a Ninja Beast, and the battle left them rather unaccustomed to it.
Unlike humans of comparable size, the White Wolf's enormous body, sharp claws, and fang-filled maw caused them no small amount of trouble.
On top of that, this White Wolf was
