Final Thoughts

After ten months, I Am the Sword Saint of Konoha was finally complete. Time to celebrate!

First of all, I had to thank all of you readers for your support and encouragement during this time. It was because of you that Ye Zhi had the confidence and motivation to keep walking down this path.

To be fair, writing this book was honestly pretty agonizing at the beginning. Since it was set so, so far removed from the timeline of the Original Story, many timeline-related details were unclear.

On top of that, everyone had different interpretations of the early Naruto timeline. As a result, this book was unpopular from the outset. Many people saw Sakumo as being from the same generation as the Sannin, decided that Ye Zhi's understanding of Naruto was unprofessional, and dropped the book right away.

Ye Zhi also encountered plenty of related doubts while writing it. Then, the Chunin Exam arc before it went premium was indeed handled poorly, causing another large wave of readers to leave. The results when it launched were bleak.

Two thousand bookmarks and 120 first subscriptions—honestly, most people would probably have dropped the story with results like that. But when I saw all those encouraging comments, I foolishly felt like I could still save it somehow. Haha.

So I gritted my teeth and kept writing. Unexpectedly, its performance improved quite a bit by the middle and later stages.

As of now, the book's average subscriptions were around 1,700. That might not be worth mentioning to many veteran authors, but for Ye Zhi, it was a considerable improvement. Of course, I still hoped the next book would reach even greater heights.
