Encouraged, Liu Changxu immediately set to work on the second piece of spirit jade ore. The first cut revealed nothing, but after the sixth, a corner of pink spirit jade emerged. It was a piece of second-tier lower-grade hibiscus jade.
This greatly encouraged Liu Changxu and the three women, Li Zhenxin, Wu Yunyue, and Zhang Wenjun. But after a few more cuts, they discovered that the hibiscus jade was only five inches across, leaving Wu Yunyue and the other two women, who had hoped to strike it rich, sorely disappointed!
Still, it was not bad! Although this piece of second-tier lower-grade hibiscus jade was small, it was worth fifteen hundred Low-Grade Spirit Stones. By that reckoning, they had nearly recovered their costs.
The next few pieces of ore, however, left Liu Changxu and the three women deeply disappointed. They yielded only a few pieces of first-tier middle- and upper-grade spirit jade, all rather small. Their combined value did not exceed twenty-five hundred Low-Grade Spirit Stones.
The three women's dream of making a fortune this way was shattered. Fortunately, they had not lost money and had even made a small profit. Only the final piece of spirit jade ore remained unopened.
Liu Changxu's gaze grew heated, for this was the piece of spirit jade ore he had placed the greatest hopes in. The three women, however, had lost interest. Before he could begin cutting it, Li Zhenxin and Zhang Wenjun grew bored and went into Xin Yue Tower to rest.
Only Wu Yunyue refused to give up, wanting to see whether this piece of ore would yield high-grade spirit jade. After hearing from her mother that her father was cutting spirit jade ore, his daughter Jiao'er excitedly ran outside and said to Liu Changxu:
"Father, cutting ore is so much fun!
