Lin Yi smiled faintly. "What's wrong with that? We're fellow disciples. If I don't help you, who should I help?"
"But..." Lan Xin was not quite used to it. "I've always acted alone."
"Bullshit!" Lin Yi rolled his eyes. "You were clearly following Wan Dongzhi before. You're refusing me because you've never trusted anyone besides Wan Dongzhi, right?"
"Junior sister, I don't know why you were kicked out or why you're hopeless at everyday life, but since Master took you in and even sent you to deliver the Thunder Sword to me, he must have meant for us to look after each other."
Lan Xin actually could not find anything to say in rebuttal. "Fine, you have a point. But you're not allowed to ask about my affairs or pry into them."
"I've only told two people, and I don't want to tell anyone else."
"I understand. Who wants to bring up painful memories like those? Let's go, junior sister!" With that, Lin Yi headed straight toward Heavenly City.
Lan Xin shrugged. "You're clearly warmhearted. Why pretend to be so cold and aloof?"
As she spoke, she hurried after him.
When they reached the city entrance, the gates suddenly began to open slowly.
A man dragging a massive sword ambled out. His hair was disheveled, and he wore a blue outer robe over white clothes. He looked every inch a scholar, yet a sinister air lurked between his brows.
"Could this man be Sword Immortal Zhou Xie?" Lan Xin asked.
Lin Yi shook his head. "Zhou Xie would be at least forty by now. This man is so young. It can't be him!"
"Hey! Who are you?" Lan Xin simply asked him directly. "What happened to Heavenly City?"
The man did not answer. He merely kept walking out, muttering under
