Ch. 601The Wilderness
Key plot points and events
- Xu Tong’s Avatar, controlled directly by Xu Tong and lacking an independent consciousness, arrives in an unfamiliar wilderness. He asks the wary Wild Wolf Tribe for shelter and offers them a Lone Wolf Beast’s hide in exchange.
- Patrol captain Qin Ming consults the tribe chief, Qin Guo. Recognizing Xu Tong as a powerful expert, Qin Guo welcomes him and gives him the tribe’s best house.
- Xu Tong gives Qin Guo the hide, a valuable gift worth roughly half a year of the tribe’s earnings. He asks for dinner and, more importantly, directions out of the region.
- Xu Tong has learned how dangerous the mountains are: he recently fled a mighty four-armed Giant, who was later eaten by another beast. He realizes his Avatar cannot safely explore without a reliable route.
Character developments and interactions
- Xu Tong is cautious and practical. Though far stronger than the tribespeople, he avoids causing trouble, uses the hide to secure shelter, and prioritizes finding a safe exit.
- Qin Ming approaches Xu Tong politely but follows tribal procedure by seeking his chief’s approval.
- Qin Guo is hospitable and shrewd. He recognizes Xu Tong’s strength, offers him the best accommodation, and accepts the hide once it is freely given.
- The tribe’s initial suspicion gives way to respectful hospitality after Xu Tong’s offering and Qin Guo’s assessment of him.
