Ch. 921Returning to the Primordial World!
Key events
- After Great God Qinghuo reprimands Tongtian, he begins to see that he may have hurt Commandery Princess Shi Xue. Heavenly Venerable Divine Moth reinforces the charge: Tongtian’s evasiveness allowed Shi Xue’s feelings to deepen before he rejected her.
- Tongtian feels trapped between accepting Shi Xue and betraying Xihe and Houtu, or refusing her and seeming cruel. Divine Moth insists that his failure to be clear was itself harmful.
- Tongtian suspects Divine Moth has a painful history with Luohu, but she senses his thoughts and threatens him. She then urges him to return to the Primordial World, where several hundred years have passed.
- In the spatial tunnel, Tongtian spots Shi Xue traveling alone. Realizing that his rejection may have left her unable to rely on him, he feels remorse and tries to approach her.
- Divine Moth stops him, warning that changing his mind now would hurt Shi Xue, Xihe, and Houtu alike. She enters Shi Xue’s Primordial Spirit and takes her away, declaring that she will make Shi Xue her disciple.
- Tongtian decides to leave Shi Xue alone for now. When he again alludes to Divine Moth’s possible history with Luohu, she burns his Primordial Spirit as a warning. Tongtian resumes his journey in silence.
Character developments and interactions
- Tongtian shifts from feeling unfairly accused to recognizing how his indecision and lack of direct communication affected Shi Xue. He remains comically curious about Divine Moth and Luohu, but learns to keep those thoughts to himself.
- Shi Xue is seen traveling alone, suggesting that she is trying to move on but feels vulnerable and may no longer turn to Tongtian for help.
- Heavenly Venerable Divine Moth acts as Tongtian’s stern moral critic and Shi Xue’s protector. She blocks Tongtian from making an impulsive reversal and takes Shi Xue under her wing.
- Great God Qinghuo appears briefly, reprimanding Tongtian before leaving.
Significant themes
- Honest communication and responsibility: Avoiding a clear answer can deepen another person’s attachment and cause real harm.
- Regret and restraint: Tongtian recognizes his mistake, but acting on regret immediately may compound the damage.
- Competing loyalties: His concern for Shi Xue conflicts with his existing ties to Xihe and Houtu.
- Humor amid emotional tension: Tongtian’s speculation about Divine Moth and Luohu, and her forceful retaliation, provide comic relief.
