After thinking it over for a long time, the Elder finally said, "Actually, there's nothing wrong with what you're doing. The Hyuga Clan's Byakugan really is far better at reconnaissance than our Uchiha Sharingan. I'd been meaning to find a chance to discuss this with you myself. The Hyuga Clan's Byakugan was also among the options I intended to recommend."
"However, as you said, the branch family's Byakugan all have flaws, while the Main Family's Byakugan are guarded too closely. If you could get engaged to the Hyuga Clan's daughter from the main line, obtaining a Byakugan would indeed be child's play."
"Besides, our Uchiha Clan will be leaving Konoha soon. Forming an alliance with a clan in Konoha at a time like this would certainly have its benefits."

Shin Uchiha hadn't expected the Elder to support his decision, much less consider it from every angle. Quite a few of the things the Elder brought up had never occurred to him before, so he nodded repeatedly at his words.
What Shin Uchiha hadn't expected, however, was for the Elder to change the subject next and ask about his search for a girlfriend within the Uchiha Clan.
After drinking another cup of wine, the Elder smacked his lips contentedly. A flush had even risen to his face, and he said, a little tipsily, "Shin, I won't interfere with your engagement to the Hyuga Clan. But you also need to find a girl from our Uchiha Clan. We're not old fossils. We're quite open-minded about these things.
