Shin Uchiha saw the somewhat bewildered look in Sasuke's eyes and knew he still did not quite understand. That was only natural. He was still young, after all, and had yet to face any real hardships.
With that in mind, Shin Uchiha tried another explanation. "Let me put it this way. There's a saying about our Uchiha Clan's reputation in the Shinobi World: if you encounter an Uchiha alone, run as fast as you can. If there are two of you, split up and attack from the front and rear. That way, you can keep the Uchiha Clan's Sharingan from unleashing its full power."
Sasuke Uchiha's eyes lit up at that, and excitement spread across his face. He felt proud to share in that glory.
Seeing Sasuke getting a little carried away, Shin Uchiha threw cold water on his excitement. "Don't assume that's a good thing. Every advantage has a downside. Our fame also means that whenever enemies encounter us on the battlefield, they'll make members of the Uchiha Clan their first targets.
"So, if you don't want to tarnish the Uchiha Clan's reputation, you must train hard. And don't limit your sights to your class, your school, or Konoha. Look further ahead. Don't grow arrogant or complacent. Keep challenging yourself and climbing higher. Only when you stand at the pinnacle of the Shinobi World will you have earned the right to be proud."
Sasuke Uchiha had never heard anything like this before. Shin Uchiha's words filled him with determination, and he answered loudly, "Understood, Master!"
Shin Uchiha nodded in satisfaction. Sasuke Uchiha was at the age when his outlook on life and his values were taking shape. Teaching him to set his sights further ahead would help him go further in life.
After finishing his little brainwashing session with
