Shin Uchiha watched the flustered Hinata, his eyes full of amusement.
He knew perfectly well how shy she was.
In the original story, Hinata probably would have fainted in a situation like this. Only after Tsunade took her as a disciple and helped her develop her character had she reached the point where, though she still grew flustered and shy, she no longer fainted from embarrassment.

But Shin Uchiha's main reason for ambushing Hinata like this was simply to see her flustered, bashful reaction. It had to be said that, despite how powerful Shin had become, his personality was as wicked as ever.
Shin Uchiha smiled at Hinata, who was still standing there at a loss, and said:
"Consider that your graduation gift. Well? Did you like it?"
At Shin's shameless words, Hinata forgot even her embarrassment. Stunned, she looked up and stared blankly at him, wondering how he could say something like that with such a handsome face.
Wasn't Shin the one taking advantage of me? Why did he make it sound as though I'd taken advantage of him instead-and gotten such a great bargain that it could count as a gift?
Seeing Hinata's reaction, Shin Uchiha added with a smile:
"Of course, that was only one of your gifts. I have another one for you."
Then Shin Uchiha reached out and lightly tapped Hinata's forehead with a finger, right where he had kissed her earlier, making her blush again.
Immediately afterward, however, Hinata sensed something unusual on her forehead. She reached up to touch it but felt nothing.
Shin Uchiha smiled at her reaction, then snapped his fingers
