Ino paused and glanced at Karin, who seemed deep in thought, before continuing:

"Besides, you and I both have our advantages. I'm his student, and you're on good terms with him too. That's why I came to you. What do you say? Shall we form an alliance?"

By then, Ino's eyes were shining with determination to succeed. The sight emboldened the still somewhat timid Karin, and she found herself agreeing.

Karin had already been considering something like this herself. Ino's approach was a pleasant surprise, so of course she agreed.

After reaching an agreement with Karin, Ino was delighted as well and strolled back to her team in high spirits.

Ino and Karin had spoken quietly and kept some distance from the group. Of those present, only Shikamaru had vaguely guessed what they were discussing. The rest were rather insensitive men and hadn't paid any attention to their conversation.

When Ino returned, Shikamaru glanced at her and said, still somewhat worried:
