Would Tsunade, her sworn rival, actually invite her to stay in her home?
Mei Terumi had not expected Tsunade to say such a thing either. After a brief pause, she broke into a smile and said:
"Since the Fifth Hokage has extended such a warm invitation, refusing would only make me seem petty. I've also been curious about the once-glorious Senju Clan, so I'll gladly accept."
At Mei Terumi's words, a radiant smile spread across Tsunade's face.
For some reason, however, Shin Uchiha sensed a certain malice directed at him in Tsunade's smile, and he could not help shivering.
Mei Terumi and the others were guests, after all. After spending a little time in the Hokage Office, the others left with Shikaku Nara, while Shizune led Mei Terumi out, presumably to take her to Tsunade's residence.
Before long, only Shin Uchiha and Tsunade remained in the Hokage Office.
Once everyone had left, the smile on Tsunade's face gradually faded, leaving only a quiet expression as she regarded Shin with a faint, ambiguous smile.
Seeing this, Shin Uchiha felt uneasy. He gave a couple of forced chuckles before saying:
"Tsunade, I still have some things to take care of, so I won't take up any more of your time."
At Shin's words, Tsunade raised a delicate eyebrow. A trace of amusement flickered in her eyes before she continued:
"Shin, let me tell you something strange. For some reason, those two old geezers on the council submitted their resignations to me over the past few days. Not only that, but on the very day they resigned, their clans also returned most of the resources they'd appropriated from Konoha. Don't you think that's a little odd?"
At Tsunade's words, Shin Uchiha merely raised his eyebrows and said casually:
"Maybe they grew a conscience.
