Naruto noticed nothing unusual about Nawaki's introduction. He merely raised a hand to scratch the back of his head and asked curiously:
"Nawaki, how come I've never seen you before? I know everyone at the Ninja Academy, but you're a complete stranger to me. Didn't you graduate from the Ninja Academy?"
Nawaki thought little of Naruto's question and answered with a smile:
"I wasn't well before, so I spent all my time recuperating. My brother-in-law only healed my injuries recently, and I begged my sister to let me come back and become a shinobi. After all, my dream is to become Hokage. If I don't become a shinobi, I can't fulfill that dream."
By the time he finished, Nawaki's face was filled with determination.
Naruto seemed to catch some of Nawaki's resolve. His expression grew increasingly excited, and he shouted:
"My dream is to become Hokage someday, too! Looks like that makes us rivals!"
Nawaki looked delighted at Naruto's words. He nodded firmly and held out his fist as he said:
"If we share the same dream, let's see which of us becomes Hokage in the end."
Naruto nodded eagerly and bumped his fist against Nawaki's.
Meanwhile, Karin Uzumaki, who had been watching Naruto and Nawaki interact, discreetly poked Sasuke and asked curiously:
"Sasuke, why does the surname Senju sound so familiar? I'm pretty sure none of our classmates have that surname, though."
Sasuke gave Karin an exasperated look before saying quietly:
"I suppose that's only to be expected of Naruto's sister. Even stupidity is contagious."
Before Karin could lose her temper, Sasuke tipped his chin toward the distant Hokage Rock and continued:
"Take a guess. What were the First Hokage's and Second Hokage's names?"
Karin froze for a moment, then seemed to remember something and muttered:
"The
