Ch. 21The Land of Whirlpools

After awakening Takamagahara, Shin Uchiha reconsidered his plan for the Uchiha Clan and decided to move them away from Konoha. He searched for a suitable island and settled on the Land of Whirlpools, Kushina Uzumaki’s homeland.

  • Shin Uchiha realized Takamagahara could serve as a secure refuge and let marked people travel to his island inside the space.
  • Shin Uchiha decided to move the Uchiha Clan far from Konoha, where they could avoid village politics and future dangers.
  • Shin Uchiha studied a map for a defensible island with enough land and fresh water to support the clan.
  • Shin Uchiha found that the Land of Whirlpools met his requirements and recognized it as the Uzumaki Clan’s former homeland.

Ch. 22Convincing the Elder

Shin Uchiha chose the Land of Whirlpools as the Uchiha Clan’s future home and visited Elder Uchiha Ling to persuade him to support the relocation. He used his Mangekyō Sharingan to draw the Elder into an illusion, preparing to show him a vision of the clan’s future massacre.

  • Shin Uchiha chose the Land of Whirlpools as the Uchiha Clan’s new home after considering how its destruction had followed its reliance on Konoha for protection.
  • Shin memorized the map and decided that some Uchiha would remain in Konoha to look after the clan’s students.
  • After his Sharingan adjusted, Shin went to Elder Uchiha Ling’s home to seek his support for relocating the clan.
  • Shin told Ling that his Mangekyō Sharingan had awakened a dōjutsu and claimed he had come for guidance.
  • Shin activated Uchiha Fugaku’s Illusion Realm and drew Ling into the illusion so he could show him what the dōjutsu had revealed.

Ch. 23A legacy passed down

Shin Uchiha showed the Elder visions of the Uchiha Clan’s massacre and Konoha’s destruction, prompting the Elder to investigate the Rinnegan and share the clan’s historical records. The Elder let Shin take a treasured book home, leaving Shin with a deeper appreciation of the Uchiha legacy.

  • Shin Uchiha used Fugaku’s illusion to show the Elder scenes of Shisui’s death, the Uchiha massacre, and Nagato destroying Konoha, while concealing Naruto’s later role in reviving the dead.
  • The Elder mourned Shisui and the clan’s future, and Shin reassured him that he had warned Shisui and arranged for his safety.
  • The Elder blamed the Third Hokage and Danzo for the events surrounding Shisui’s death and the massacre, then went to consult the Uchiha records about Nagato’s eyes.
  • The Elder identified Nagato’s eyes as the Rinnegan and explained the abilities described in the clan’s records.
  • Shin read the Uchiha records, praised their value as the clan’s legacy, and asked to borrow a book; the Elder let him take it home.

Ch. 24Entrusting

Shin Uchiha convinced Elder Uchiha Ling that his Takamagahara space could safely hold the Uchiha Clan’s records, and Ling entrusted him with copies of the clan’s histories and ninjutsu. Shin then explained the clan’s planned departure from Konoha, and Ling questioned whether Shisui’s staged death could be carried out safely.

  • Ling explained the importance of the Uchiha records and the safeguards he had built into the archive.
  • Shin took Ling into Takamagahara and showed him that the space could securely store the texts.
  • Ling brought Shin two enormous scrolls containing the clan’s inherited records and ninjutsu, and Shin transported them into Takamagahara.
  • Ling explained that the scrolls were backups copied by successive Elders, reassuring Shin that the clan still had its originals.
  • Shin told Ling about the Uchiha Clan’s departure from Konoha, and Ling acknowledged both the village’s and clan’s responsibility for the conflict.
  • Ling asked whether Shin was confident about faking Shisui’s death, and Shin assured him that Shisui would not be sacrificed without a sound plan.

Ch. 25Staying the night

Shin Uchiha secured Uchiha Fugaku’s agreement to fake Shisui’s death and move the Uchiha Clan from Konoha to the Land of Whirlpools. After staying overnight at the clan head’s home, Shin saw Mikoto arrive with a late-night snack and thought of a new idea.

  • Shin Uchiha reassured the Elder that he would persuade Uchiha Fugaku to support his plans for the clan.
  • Shin went to the Clan Leader’s House, joined Fugaku’s family for dinner, and avoided discussing clan matters in front of Sasuke.
  • Shin told Fugaku about faking Shisui Uchiha’s death and relocating the Uchiha Clan, and Fugaku agreed to the plan.
  • Shin and Fugaku worked out the plan’s details and discussed incentives to encourage the Uchiha Clan to have more children.
  • Shin stayed overnight, and Mikoto brought him a late-night snack and sake; seeing her, Shin came up with a new idea.

Ch. 26Space Mark

Shin Uchiha brought Uchiha Mikoto to the island inside Takamagahara and explained his spatial Dōjutsu. He left her with a space mark she could use to escape danger, and she kissed him in gratitude.

  • Shin Uchiha used Takamagahara to bring Uchiha Mikoto to its island, where she marveled at the realistic surroundings and questioned him about the space.
  • Shin Uchiha held Mikoto as they admired the island and explained how Takamagahara let him travel and bring others with him.
  • Shin Uchiha carefully placed a space mark between Mikoto's eyebrows and told her she could activate it with chakra to reach safety.
  • Mikoto, moved by Shin's concern for her, leaned in and kissed him.

Ch. 27Leaving the village

After sharing an intimate night with Uchiha Mikoto, Shin Uchiha left Konoha to pursue a mission and investigate the former Land of Whirlpools. He accepted a contract to hunt down the Missing-nin Kojiro Shimamura.

  • Uchiha Mikoto told Shin she wanted to have his child, and Shin agreed before taking her home with Takamagahara.
  • Shin and Mikoto spent the night together, and Shin planned to store furniture, food, and drinks in his dimension.
  • The next morning, Shin left Mikoto’s house and went to Konoha’s mission assignment office instead of returning to his own home.
  • With Uchiha Itachi still away, Shin postponed the plan to fake Shisui’s death and decided to investigate the former Land of Whirlpools while marking his route.
  • Shin accepted a mission to kill Kojiro Shimamura, a Konoha Missing-nin who had defected after killing a student and drawing suspicion.

Ch. 28Transcription Seal

Shin Uchiha prepared Shisui Uchiha for the plan and left Konoha on a mission that took him toward the Land of Whirlpools. Along the way, he began secretly buying supplies for the Uchiha Clan’s move and storing them on the island in his space.

  • Shin Uchiha visited Shisui Uchiha, told him he would be away for about half a month, and confirmed that the clan’s plan would proceed as scheduled.
  • Shin Uchiha revealed that he had sealed Izanagi in Shisui Uchiha’s Sharingan as a contingency, and reassured Shisui that his own eyes were unharmed.
  • Shin Uchiha registered his departure from Konoha and set out on a mission toward the Land of Whirlpools.
  • Shin Uchiha used Shadow Clones and the Transformation Technique to buy supplies for the Uchiha Clan in several cities, then stored them on the island in his space.

Ch. 29Kojiro Shimamura's accusations

Shin Uchiha built a house inside his Takamagahara space, then tracked the Missing-nin Kojiro Shimamura to a coastal fishing village. When Shin's shadow clone pursued him into the woods, Kojiro broke down and blamed his flight on a former student who had supposedly provoked him.

  • Shin Uchiha hired a construction crew to build a wooden house inside his space and sent them home after using genjutsu to blur their memories.
  • Shisui Uchiha carefully revealed his Mangekyō Sharingan during difficult missions, while Uchiha Fugaku failed to stop rumors from spreading to Danzo.
  • Shin Uchiha reached the coast and identified Kojiro Shimamura, disguised as a fisherman, by his hands and skin.
  • Shin's shadow clone watched Kojiro flee into the woods and followed him with its Three-Tomoe Sharingan activated.
  • Kojiro Shimamura dropped his disguise and accused his former student of provoking him, asking why Konoha would not let him live.

Ch. 30Trap

Shin Uchiha confronted Kojiro Shimamura over killing his student, but Kojiro argued that clan privilege had left civilian-born Shinobi like him with no fair way to respond. Kojiro’s trap destroyed Shin’s Shadow Clone, and Shin suspected Kojiro had another reason for killing his student after noticing his use of Lightning Release.

  • Shin Uchiha told Kojiro Shimamura that killing his student had been an extreme response, while Kojiro explained how clan privilege had blocked his progress and limited his options.
  • Shin Uchiha reflected on the power of Konoha’s clans and his reasons for wanting the Uchiha Clan to leave the village, but continued his mission to bring Kojiro back.
  • Kojiro Shimamura vanished into a trap of steel wires and Explosive Tags, which detonated and destroyed Shin Uchiha’s Shadow Clone.
  • Shin Uchiha sent another Shadow Clone into the woods, and Kojiro Shimamura mocked him for not approaching in person.
  • Shin Uchiha asked Kojiro Shimamura whether his Lightning Release indicated that he had lied about why he killed his student.

Ch. 31Lightning Release Armor

Shin Uchiha uncovered that Kojiro Shimamura had killed his student to steal a Lightning Release secret technique and had learned the first stage of Kumogakure's Lightning Release Armor. Kojiro attacked Shin at enhanced speed, and Shin used his Sharingan to barely withstand him.

  • Shin Uchiha deduced that Kojiro Shimamura had used Lightning Release chakra transformation to speed up the Explosive Tags and had killed his student to conceal his training.
  • Kojiro tore off his disguise and activated the first stage of Lightning Release Armor, surprising Shin with his access to Kumogakure's secret technique.
  • Kojiro said he had stolen the technique from his student and blamed Konoha for stifling his talent.
  • Kojiro threw two Kunai and charged Shin, who dodged and blocked with help from his Sharingan despite being outmatched in speed.

Ch. 32Whirlpool Island

Shin Uchiha copied Kojiro Shimamura’s Lightning Release Armor with his Mangekyō Sharingan and captured him alive. After arranging for Kojiro to be imprisoned, Shin continued toward the Land of Whirlpools and learned why the island was largely abandoned.

  • Shin Uchiha’s Shadow Clone vanished after Kojiro Shimamura slashed its throat, and Kojiro taunted the real Shin.
  • Shin revealed his Mangekyō Sharingan and used its Copying Eye to learn Lightning Release Armor from Kojiro.
  • Shin overwhelmed Kojiro with the copied technique, captured him, and decided to imprison him rather than kill or recruit him.
  • Shin returned to the Uchiha Clan Compound through Takamagahara and asked Uchiha Fugaku to lock Kojiro in the clan’s secret prison.
  • Shin boarded a cargo ship heading along the coast and learned that hidden currents, whirlpools, and the island’s deadly history kept ships away from the Land of Whirlpools.

Ch. 33All sides made their move

Shin Uchiha reached Whirlpool Island as Danzo learned that Shisui Uchiha had awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan and began considering a move against the Uchiha Clan. Hiruzen ordered Kakashi to investigate Root and protect Shisui, while Shisui warned Fugaku, who sent Mikoto to contact Shin; the chapter ended with Shin embracing her in Takamagahara Space.

  • Shin Uchiha left the merchant ship and ran across the water toward Whirlpool Island.
  • A Root ninja reported that Shisui Uchiha's Sharingan had evolved into the Mangekyō Sharingan, and Danzo considered eradicating the Uchiha Clan.
  • Hiruzen ordered Kakashi Hatake to investigate Root and covertly protect Shisui Uchiha.
  • Shisui sensed a squad following him, suspected Danzo's Root, and reported the threat to Uchiha Fugaku.
  • Fugaku asked Uchiha Mikoto to notify Shin, and Mikoto used Shin's space mark to enter Takamagahara Space.
  • Shin appeared behind Mikoto, embraced her, and asked whether she had missed him.

Ch. 34Shisui's crisis

Shin Uchiha returned to the Uchiha District and agreed with Uchiha Fugaku and the Elder to follow their plan concerning Danzo and Shisui. When Root abducted Shisui under a forged order from the Third Hokage, Shin rushed to Danzo's base with Fugaku and Uchiha clan members.

  • Uchiha Mikoto told Shin that Danzo was targeting Shisui, who was staying inside the Uchiha District for safety.
  • Shin carried Mikoto to his house, then returned with her to the Clan Leader's House.

  • Root operatives intercepted Shisui after a mission and took him away using a forged order from the Third Hokage.
  • Shin, Uchiha Fugaku, and a group of Uchiha clan members hurried to the Root Base, while Shisui let the disguised Root operatives take him as planned.

Ch. 35The encirclement

Shisui Uchiha went to Root's base and offered to serve Shimura Danzō, hoping to ease tensions between the Uchiha Clan and Konoha. When Shisui refused the Cursed Seal, Danzō ordered Root to attack him, and Shisui sensed a trap as he tried to escape.

  • Shisui Uchiha met Shimura Danzō at Root's base and claimed he wanted to serve him to help reconcile the Uchiha Clan and the village.
  • Danzō agreed to take Shisui into Root but ordered him to receive the Cursed Seal.
  • Shisui refused the seal, warning that the Uchiha Clan would cast him out if he accepted it.
  • Shisui revealed his Mangekyō Sharingan and declared that his strength would let him surpass Orochimaru.
  • Danzō ordered Root members to attack Shisui as he moved toward the exit.
  • Shisui used Fire Release: Fire Dragon Technique to break through the encirclement, then sensed that something was wrong as he tried to flee.

Ch. 36Skeletal Susanoo

Surrounded by Shimura Danzō’s Root operatives and weakened by Torune Aburame’s poison, Shisui Uchiha awakened Susanoo to protect himself. As Danzō ordered his men to stop Shisui from forming Susanoo’s skeletal arms, Shisui remained close to death from the spreading venom.

  • Shisui Uchiha refused Shimura Danzō’s offer to accept Root’s Cursed Seal, declaring that he would rather die than submit.
  • Shimura Danzō ordered the Root operatives to kill Shisui, who resolved to keep his promise to Shin Uchiha and leave him an intact corpse.
  • Shisui drove his Mangekyō Sharingan to its limit, unleashing a green skeletal Susanoo that swept away the attackers.
  • Shimura Danzō recognized Susanoo and watched in fascination while Shisui struggled with severe eye pain and Torune Aburame’s spreading poison.
  • Shisui formed skeletal arms and hands around himself, prompting Shimura Danzō to shout for his men to stop him.

Ch. 37Shisui's parting words

Shisui Uchiha escaped Shimura Danzō’s Root Base but collapsed near Konoha as the poison reached his heart and his Susanoo failed. Shin Uchiha found him, and Shisui gave his final advice to Uchiha Itachi while Shin knew a contingency might bring Shisui back to life.

  • Shisui Uchiha used his skeletal Susanoo to escape the cave and fled toward Konoha as Root pursued him.
  • The poison spread through Shisui Uchiha’s body, and his exhausted Susanoo dissipated when the poison reached his heart.
  • Shin Uchiha found the immobile Shisui Uchiha and discovered the poison had killed his cells, beyond the Mystical Palm Technique’s ability to heal.
  • Shisui Uchiha told Shin Uchiha he had kept their promise and urged him to lead the Uchiha clansmen away from annihilation.
  • Shisui Uchiha advised Uchiha Itachi to care for himself, seek Shin Uchiha’s advice, and look after his little brother.

Ch. 38Shisui's death

Shin Uchiha and the Uchiha Clan confronted Shimura Danzō after Shisui revealed that Danzō had attacked him for his Mangekyō Sharingan. Shisui died from his injuries, and Shin attacked Danzō as he tried to leave.

  • Shimura Danzō arrived with Root and ordered them to take Shisui Uchiha, but Shin Uchiha and the other Uchiha blocked them.
  • Danzō claimed Shisui was a traitor, while Shin argued that Danzō had no authority to arrest him.
  • Uchiha Fugaku, clan representatives, the Third Hokage, and Anbu arrived, and a medical ninja treated Shisui.
  • Shisui told the Third Hokage and Fugaku that Danzō had attacked him for his Mangekyō Sharingan and had a Sharingan beneath his bandages.
  • Danzō refused to explain himself and left, while Shisui succumbed to his injuries.
  • Shin Uchiha shouted at Danzō for killing Shisui and attacked him.

Ch. 39Defecting from the Village

After Shin Uchiha used Susanoo against Danzo, the Third Hokage apologized to the Uchiha Clan and offered to punish Danzo and compensate them. Shin used the moment to announce the Uchiha Clan would leave Konoha, and the Third Hokage asked if they intended to defect.

  • Shin Uchiha's Susanoo struck Danzo and his men, but Danzo reappeared unharmed and fled.
  • Shin Uchiha refrained from pursuing Danzo and faced the Third Hokage as the Uchiha Clan gathered behind him.
  • The Third Hokage bowed to the Uchiha, apologized over Shisui Uchiha's death, and promised to remove Danzo from his positions and hold a funeral for Shisui.
  • The Third Hokage offered compensation and asked whether the Uchiha wanted anything else.
  • Shin Uchiha said the Uchiha Clan would relinquish its duties in the Konoha Security Bureau and move out of Konoha.
  • The Third Hokage asked whether the Uchiha Clan intended to defect from the village.

Ch. 40Leaving Konoha

Shin Uchiha persuaded the Third Hokage to approve moving some Uchiha out of Konoha while keeping the clan’s children and missions tied to the village. The Third Hokage then offered Shin an Anbu Captain position, and Shin pretended to accept despite wanting to leave Konoha.

  • Shin Uchiha assured the Third Hokage that the Uchiha were not betraying Konoha and explained that Shisui Uchiha’s death had prompted some clan members to relocate.
  • Shin Uchiha promised that Uchiha children would still attend the Ninja Academy and that the clan would not take missions outside Konoha.
  • The Third Hokage approved the Uchiha Clan’s proposal to move some members away from the village.
  • The Third Hokage offered Shin Uchiha the position of Anbu Captain, reporting directly to him.
  • Shin Uchiha hid his reluctance and claimed he had always dreamed of joining the Anbu and serving Konoha.
