But Viserys's attention settled a few paces behind Oberyn, where a woman stood wearing a thin veil. She was dressed in sumptuous Dornish clothing, and above her veil, a pair of bright black eyes watched him without the slightest reserve.

Though he could not see her entire face, the curiosity in her eyes, along with the appraising gaze of someone long accustomed to belonging to the ruling class, immediately told Viserys who she was: Arianne Martell, Prince Doran's daughter and one of his betrothed.

"We saw the shadow in the sky and heard the dragon's roar, and knew it was you. My brother, Prince Doran, has been waiting for you at the Water Gardens. Still, I imagine you and your dragon companion, King Ghidorah, could use some rest today. It is nearly time for dinner, after all."

His gaze turned to Viserys, then flicked toward King Ghidorah beside him. His meaning was clear. With such an enormous creature landing in the heart of the city, they needed to settle her somewhere suitable first and give the frightened people time to recover.

Viserys nodded. "I am a guest here, so naturally, I will leave the arrangements to you, my host. And you should understand this perfectly well, my prince: King Ghidorah is very quiet, provided no one attacks her first."

"Attacks her?" Oberyn laughed. "Only someone tired of living would do that. I will have the beach near the Old Palace cleared. It is spacious and warm. Your dragon should like it. Your Grace, please come inside with me first and taste some Dornish wine."
