Viserys had a rare moment to himself, so he strolled through the small garden in the Old Palace, enjoying the peace and quiet. Just then, Nymeria stepped out from behind a tree.

She wore a deep red silk gown with a low neckline that exposed a broad stretch of tawny skin. Her hair hung loose, casually tied near the ends with a thin cord.

"Alone today, Your Grace?" She raised an eyebrow. "I heard Prince Doran summoned Arianne for a talk. She might be there until quite late."

"What, have you come to keep me company?"

"I'm here to protect you." She sidled up to him with a grin, swaying her hips and revealing the dagger at her waist. "Everyone in this garden serves the Martells, but if some fool were to disturb you..."

Viserys raised a hand and caught her chin.

Nymeria's words caught in her throat.

Her eyes, always alive with a mischievous smile, blinked before she laughed. "Your Grace, you haven't seemed like yourself these past few days. I remember how much of a proper gentleman you were in Valyria."

"That was before." Viserys released her chin. "Now you Dornish women have taught me something."

"What?"

"If you want something, take it."

Nymeria froze for a moment, then her smile grew brighter.

"Then I'll collect a little interest first." She caught the front of Viserys's clothes, pulled him close, and rose onto her toes to press her lips to his.

Viserys reached out, caught the back of her neck, and kissed her fiercely.

His movement took Nymeria by surprise, but she quickly responded. Her hands climbed to his waist,
