Edmure trembled slightly at Viserys's words before finally saying, "Your Grace, my father is gravely ill. I am willing to bear the full burden of his crimes."

"You? The full burden?" Viserys laughed outright at Edmure's words, his laughter laced with scorn. "How would you bear it? With your life? House Tully was the backbone of the Usurper's forces. If Hoster Tully hadn't bound the North, the Vale, and the Riverlands together, the rebels would never have amounted to anything."

He rose, walked over to Edmure, and looked down at him, his tone stern. "Do you think saying 'I am willing to bear the burden' will wipe away your family's sins? You are merely an heir. You have no standing to make that offer."

Edmure could only grit his teeth and say in a subdued voice, "Then what do you want, Your Grace? Whatever House Tully can give, you need only ask."

Viserys stared at him for a few seconds, then turned back to the table and picked up a sheet of parchment like the one he had given Duke William earlier. "I want all the land east of Riverrun, from the Red Fork to the Green Fork, including Lord Harroway's Town. All of it will be granted to House Darry."

Edmure's face instantly went pale, and he hurriedly protested, "Your Grace, that is more than half of House Tully's lands..."

"Of course I know." Viserys cut him off and continued, "But that is the price House Tully must pay. House Darry suffered grievous losses for House Targaryen during the Usurper's war, and you stripped them of most of their lands. Now I am returning those lands to them. Why shouldn't I?"
