Viserys looked at her, his lips slowly curving upward. "What, aren't you tired anymore?"

"I may not be as strong as you, but I have dragon blood too, you know. Besides, I rested well last night, so of course I'm not tired now." Rhaenys lowered her head and kissed Viserys on the lips, her words slipping out between their kisses. "If you're tired, you did all the work last night. Today, I can take a turn."

Viserys chuckled and rolled over, pinning Rhaenys beneath him again. "No need to switch. Leave it to me," he said, amused.

Before Rhaenys could protest, his lips silenced her again.

Across the Gorge, shortly after Viserys left, the Free Folk camp descended into bewildered confusion tinged with hope.

An elite band of Rangers sent by Ser Dennis soon arrived at the Free Folk camp. There were about thirty of them, all in black uniforms, black cloaks, and black hoods, standing together in silence.

Though their swords remained sheathed, the metal still gleamed coldly in the light of the camp's lingering fires. In any case, they were far better than the Free Folk's weapons.

Otherwise, the Free Folk would not have had so many standard-issue Night's Watch weapons. Those were trophies they had taken over their long years of conflict.

These men carried the stern, aloof, watchful air peculiar to the Night's Watch on the Wall, utterly at odds with the noisy chaos of the Free Folk camp beside them.

The Free Folk had already begun packing their meager belongings: a few worn furs, crude weapons, and what little food remained. It hardly took any time.
