"Your Grace, I am Edmund Rowan of Goldengrove. We, too, came to Highgarden to welcome you on our Earl's orders. Earl Matus is currently in Goldengrove, attending to preparations for Your Grace's northern campaign, and so could not come to Highgarden to meet you in person. Please forgive him."
Viserys stood where he was, his gaze sweeping over their bowed heads and the various sigils on their armor. He neither told them to rise immediately nor spoke to rebuke them.
If he remembered correctly, Matus Rowan's daughter had married House Hightower's heir, Baelor Hightower. Not only were both houses now threats to House Tyrell, but they were also bound by marriage.
Still, to think House Hightower's current heir was named Baelor. That surely meant he would be short-lived as well, with no chance of becoming the head of his house.
He waited a few breaths before saying, "Rise. You arrived on such short notice, already faster than I expected."
Following the lead of the knights of Houses Hightower and Rowan, the others rose. Their eyes still strayed in unison toward King Ghidorah's enormous form lying in the center of the square, then quickly turned away to stare at the flagstones before them. No one dared look directly at the great beast for long.
Just then, a young knight standing toward the left of the group, with a golden tree embroidered on his collar as well, studied King Ghidorah for some time before turning his head and murmuring something to the man beside him.
The other man answered quietly. They exchanged a glance, then both lowered their eyes again, afraid Viserys might notice their little exchange.
"So that's the Targaryen Dragonlord's legendary three-headed dragon..." a young knight in a green cloak at the very back whispered to the man beside him.
