Aemond Targaryen, the second son of the king and queen, was the unluckiest "dragonrider" in the history of House Targaryen-though he certainly could not yet be called a true dragonrider. At that moment, Prince Aemond, still strapped to Sunfyre's saddle-
Finally let out an involuntary protest as his older brother, older sister, and cousin embraced in a tangled heap.
Mindful of Aemond, who was trussed up like a parcel on his back, Sunfyre had flown especially slowly and steadily. Still, he had been the last to land, following Syrax.
After being jostled the entire way, Aemond had been left utterly dizzy by Sunfyre's careful roll onto his side upon landing. The sour liquid churning in his stomach finally found a way out.
Sunfyre certainly had not meant any harm. But the instant he heard Aemond retch, his golden, slit-pupiled eyes widened in horror. His whole body froze on the beach, and he did not dare move even the tip of his tail. Then he began frantically shaking his back, trying to dislodge the little bundle that might vomit on his scales.
So Aemond certainly was not throwing up in disgust at Laena, Rhaenyra, and Aegon's "display of affection." Sunfyre's earlier jostling had made him sick.
Yet that single gag not only drew all three of their attention at once, but also terrified Sunfyre. Afraid Aemond would vomit on his back, Sunfyre shook even harder.
And that shaking brought up everything left in Aemond's stomach.
"Bleurgh-" He threw up, mercifully toward the beach rather than onto Sunfyre's scales.
But Sunfyre's shaking made him even dizzier and brought tears to his eyes. Sobbing, he screamed a heart-rending plea for help to the older brother and sister he trusted most.
"Brother! Sister! Help! Help me! Sunfyre's going to shake me to death-"
