"Roar!" Cannibal led the furious roaring, joining Sunfyre and Grey Ghost in breathing dragonfire at the fleeing crowd. Like herding ducks, they drove the remnants of the Mountain Clans who tried to escape into the forests back out of Green Ridge's thickets.
"Cut them off!" Aegon decisively ordered the pursuit, taking the lead in blocking the mountain clansmen's retreat.
Boom! Cannibal, in tune with his rider's thoughts, slowly landed. His hind feet smashed a deep crater into the earth, his immense body towering like a small hill.
Aegon did not hesitate either. He swung down from his Dothraki steed, preparing to climb Cannibal's dragon ladder and mount his back.
But the sight clearly infuriated Sunfyre, who vented that anger by "squandering" even more dragonfire on the mountain clansmen-
"Skree!" That barrage frightened even Grey Ghost beside him into a panicked screech, sending the dragon flapping far away.
Cannibal merely cast a sidelong glance their way, radiating imperious majesty. The way he looked at the jealous Sunfyre and frightened Grey Ghost was practically that of an adult watching children.
"Fly!" Aegon saw it all and hastily issued the command in High Valyrian.
He had already suspected this might happen.
But none of that mattered now. First, he needed to wipe out these mountain clansmen who had dared provoke his "sleeping dragon's wrath."
"Skree!" At Aegon's command, Cannibal roared again, launching straight into the air and breathing dragonfire at the fleeing crowd.
This time, his fury was utterly unrestrained.
Ghastly green dragonfire traced sweeping arcs. The sea of flames fell upon the mountain clansmen, reducing them to streaks of ash as casually as a brush daubing a page.
Nothing remained but pungent white smoke-not even charred corpses, only inconspicuous flakes of gray-black residue scattering on the wind. That annihilating breath of death
