Xiao Yu sat in a chair and raised his eyes slightly, glancing at the human trafficker bound to the rack.
He asked, "Where did you get that potion?"
"Pah!"
The trafficker spat at him, his eyes full of contempt. "What's it to you?"
"Insolence! Do you know who stands before you?" the jailer stepped forward and snapped.
This man was a favorite of the king, personally escorted here by Uncle Fu. That alone showed how distinguished he was.
If the king learned that this man had been scorned and bullied here, the jailer could not save himself even if he had several heads to spare.
The trafficker showed no fear at all. A smug glint flashed through his eyes.
He sneered, "I don't care who he is. Don't think I'm afraid of you just because you've locked me up!"
Crack!
Seeing that he remained utterly unrepentant, the jailer lashed him with a whip. "Behave yourself!"
"Pah! Son of a bitch!"
The trafficker spat at him, his face full of scorn, and lifted his chin.
He taunted brazenly, "Beat me to death right now if you've got the guts!"
Xiao Yu's eyes shifted slightly, a glimmer passing through them.
He told the jailer beside him, "Since he asked for it, grant his wish."
"Yes!"
The jailer immediately picked up the red-hot branding iron beside him and pressed it against the man's body.
"Aaaah!"
The flesh on the trafficker's chest split open, leaving a bloody mess. He screamed again and again.
Just as the jailer was about to brand him a second time, he surrendered at once. "I'll talk! I'll talk!"
"You could have talked from the start! You had to suffer before you learned some sense!"
The jailer shot him a contemptuous look. "Confess at once!
