"Careful, Your Highness..."

Hearing the familiar voice, the Crown Prince could not help looking up.

When he saw who it was, delight and excitement slipped across his face. "Little Uncle!"

"What are you doing here?"

"I..."

Cui Rong stared at the Crown Prince, who had stumbled into his arms like a little deer, his eyes wide and glistening, and went blank for a moment.

His heart abruptly skipped a beat.

When he still did not answer, the Crown Prince blinked. "Little Uncle?"

"I... happened to be passing by."

Cui Rong came back to himself and released the Crown Prince as though he had been shocked.

He turned his head slightly, his gaze unconsciously darting away. "Your Highness... watch your step."

"Oh..."

Out of the corner of his eye, the Crown Prince spotted the two large bags of steamed buns in his right hand. "Little Uncle, are you here to see Sixth Imperial Brother?"

"Yes," Cui Rong answered quietly.

Without thinking, he handed over all the buns he was holding. "I brought you something to eat."

He abruptly turned around. "Then, I'll take my leave."

With that, he hurried away, his steps betraying a hint of panic.

He feared that if he lingered even a moment longer, the Crown Prince would notice his abnormal heartbeat.

Startled by his sudden movements, the Crown Prince stood frozen, staring at his retreating figure.

He silently lowered his head and looked at the two large bags of buns in his arms, his lashes drooping as he unconsciously hugged them tighter.

They were so warm.

After waiting in his bedchamber for a long time without seeing Cui Rong, the Sixth Prince came out to look for him.

Looking up, he spotted Cui Rong hurrying past, and delight crossed his face. "Uncle, where are my meat buns?"
