Noon, at the Lu family home.
It was the weekend, and Song Zhilan was in a wonderful mood. A friend she had not seen in ages was returning from abroad tomorrow, and she planned to invite her over for afternoon tea and a chat.

Song Zhilan compared the stack of pictures a servant had handed her, looking thoroughly torn.
Just then, a sudden thud came from the nearby stairs. Song Zhilan's heart lurched. She quickly looked toward the sound, and her expression changed dramatically when she saw Lu Bochen sprawled on the floor.
"Bochen?! Why did you suddenly come downstairs?" Song Zhilan sprang to her feet and hurried over to help her son up, her voice aching with concern. "Where are your shoes? Why aren't you wearing any? We have underfloor heating, so you won't get cold, but you can still hurt yourself running around barefoot!"
Lu Bochen seemed deaf to Song Zhilan's anxious questions. He instinctively clutched her sleeve, repeating only a few words over and over: "Sister... cave... danger!"
"What? What danger are you talking about?"
Lu Bochen's words were indistinct and jumbled, leaving Song Zhilan bewildered.
It had been quite some time since she had last heard Lu Bochen speak, and something was clearly wrong with him now. Even his eyes were unfocused, and tears kept streaming down his face. Yet he looked so dazed that he seemed unaware he was crying.
He clearly could not explain himself. He only repeated "danger" over and over, his voice growing sharper and more frantic each time.
