Lu Jiaoyue hadn't expected Lu Xiaoxiao to simply go along with the explanation she'd offered. A question mark practically popped up over her head, and she couldn't help letting out a bewildered, "Huh?"
But Lu Xiaoxiao only grew more enthusiastic. She even adopted the air of a sage above worldly affairs, feigning profundity as she said, "Ah... you have no idea. In a lot of the scenes I dreamed about, things didn't turn out very well for our family! I don't want to be superstitious either, but those dreams were so real. Better to believe there might be something to them than dismiss them outright!"
"Anyway, trust me. Your big sister would never hurt any of you. Um, this... how about we keep this our little secret? If other people find out, they might get scared. Besides, I don't know whether these dreams are completely accurate... It's not exactly some weird superpower, right? Haha..."
By the end, Lu Xiaoxiao gave a couple of dry laughs, a trace of guilt creeping into her expression. But when she looked up to check Lu Jiaoyue's reaction, she found the girl watching her with extraordinary seriousness. There was no excessive surprise, much less confusion. Instead, she looked as though she'd made some sort of decision.
Lu Xiaoxiao froze. Just as she was about to ask what was wrong, Lu Jiaoyue suddenly clasped both her hands tightly.
"Xiaoxiao, if this is your secret, you don't have to tell me any more." Lu Jiaoyue tilted her face up slightly to meet Lu Xiaoxiao's eyes, her voice filled with nothing but sincerity. "I believe you'd never hurt me... much less anyone else in our family. You're the warmest, kindest person in the world. I've always thought so!"
"If... I mean, if you really can learn everyone's fate
