The next morning, Lu Xiaoxiao received a message from Lu Shiyan as soon as she got up, asking whether she wanted to visit the set of his new drama.
Huh? She could actually do that? What a sweet deal!
Lu Xiaoxiao had always been curious about how things worked in the entertainment industry, so of course she readily agreed.
She had just finished getting ready to leave when Ji Yunhuai suddenly called.
This was his first call since declaring that he would pursue her. Lu Xiaoxiao cleared her throat, spent a couple of seconds feeling coy, then answered. The first thing out of her mouth was pure nonsense: "Good morning, suitor number 10086."
Ji Yunhuai chuckled on the other end, then asked playfully, "That far down the list? Can't you let me cut in line?"
"And why should I?"
"Because I've spent money."
Okay, that was indeed an irrefutable argument.
Lu Xiaoxiao immediately switched to a fawning tone. "Certainly, dear customer. You're now our supreme VIP number one. Are you satisfied, dear customer?"
"Very." Ji Yunhuai sounded languid and slightly hoarse, as though he had only just woken up too. "Free this afternoon? Care to honor me with a meal?"
"Nope." Lu Xiaoxiao turned him down without hesitation.
"Really?"
"Really! I'm going to visit my second brother's set. Ask me another day."
"All right. Apparently, seeing you is harder than seeing your second brother." As he spoke, Ji Yunhuai glanced at the drink bottle beside him, which had Lu Shiyan's face printed on it. A teasing smile entered his voice. "I just realized the drink I had was endorsed by Lu Shiyan."
The conversation had run its course, but neither of them hung up. They stayed quiet for another ten-odd seconds, listening to the faint sound of each other's breathing.
