Although 037's constant chatter could sometimes be annoying, Lu Xiaoxiao was in another world, after all. Having it around gave her a little more sense of security.
But now that sense of security had been shattered, and with no warning whatsoever.
Lu Xiaoxiao's mood grew heavy. While she was distracted, Lu Shiyan suddenly grabbed her and pulled, sending her stumbling two steps backward.
"Watch out!"
Lu Xiaoxiao felt a fierce gust brush past the tip of her nose. Only when she snapped out of her daze did she realize a motorcycle speeding along the roadside had nearly hit her.
"Xiaoxiao, what's wrong? That was really dangerous." Relieved that he had reacted quickly enough, Lu Shiyan looked at her with concern. "Are you feeling unwell anywhere else? We're still at the hospital, so we can get anything checked right away. Please don't keep it to yourself."
Lu Xiaoxiao stood there in a daze, as if her mind were miles away. A full ten-odd seconds passed before she slowly raised her head and gave Lu Shiyan a reassuring smile. "I'm fine, Shiyan. Let's go home."
After saying that, she took two steps forward, then seemed to remember something. She stopped and turned back to remind him, "Oh, Shiyan, don't tell the others at home about my injury today. Dad's already unhappy that you insist on staying in show business. If he finds out I got hurt while acting, who knows what he'll say to you? Better keep it quiet."
Lu Shiyan froze for a moment. He hadn't expected Lu Xiaoxiao to still be thinking of him after something so upsetting had happened.
But seeing how serious she was, he ultimately said nothing to argue, merely agreeing with mixed feelings.
Lu Xiaoxiao remained silent throughout the drive back to the Lu family home.
