"Went out of your way to pass by?" Lu Xiaoxiao raised an eyebrow just as Ji Yunhuai had and repeated the phrase, the teasing in her voice unmistakable. "Do you realize 'went out of your way' and 'pass by' contradict each other? Clearly, you flunked language class. One-star review."
Ji Yunhuai sighed and shook his head. He didn't argue, but his face practically had "You have no sense of romance" written all over it.
After sighing, though, he explained why he had really come.
"Cui Anze invited me to the shooting range this afternoon. I figured you'd be free around now, so I came to ask if you wanted to join us." Ji Yunhuai paused, then added, "If you don't, I'll take you home first and go meet him afterward."
"Oh, so that's it."
Lu Xiaoxiao rubbed her chin, feeling rather pleased by Ji Yunhuai's thoughtful arrangements.
After giving it a little thought, she decided to go along.
"I've never tried shooting, but it sounds like a great way to blow off steam. I could totally give it a try."
As she spoke, Lu Xiaoxiao grinned and made a finger gun, closing one eye as she aimed at Ji Yunhuai. Then she switched to English. "You teach, I try."
Ji Yunhuai chuckled. Without taking his eyes off the road, he raised his right hand and pushed her "muzzle" aside with perfect accuracy. "I'm driving. Behave."
Lu Xiaoxiao behaved instantly.
But after only a few seconds of silence, she spoke again. "Oh, right, is Anze the only other person coming? Are any of your other friends going?"
"He Mingchuan and the others aren't coming, but I think Cui Anhe is tagging along." Ji Yunhuai frowned, sounding somewhat resigned. "I can't really turn Cui Anze down. Bringing you along is the best
