The last rays of sunset streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing Lu Xiaoxiao's bedroom in a warm orange glow.
She sat cross-legged on her soft bed, with the suitcase she would take to the set tomorrow lying open beside her and a few clothes piled haphazardly nearby. Her phone rested on her pillow on speaker, carrying Ji Yunhuai's voice, with its lazy hint of laughter and uncanny knack for hitting her right where it counted.
"...So, I'm flying to Seacity first thing tomorrow. I'll probably be there for five or six days." As Ji Yunhuai spoke, the faint rustle of turning pages sounded in the background. He seemed to still be working.
Lu Xiaoxiao was holding up a sun-protective shirt, figuring out how to fit it into her suitcase. She froze at his words, her eyes suddenly lighting up. "Wait! Where did you just say you're going for the bidding? Seacity?"
"Yeah. Why?" A questioning note entered Ji Yunhuai's voice.
"What a coincidence!" Lu Xiaoxiao perked up immediately. Abandoning her packing, she leaned toward the phone, unable to contain her excitement. "Our Spirit Abyss Chronicle crew is flying to Seacity tomorrow too! We're shooting at the Coastal Scenic Area, probably for about a week! Doesn't that mean... we could run into each other by the sea?"
The thought of seeing Ji Yunhuai in an unfamiliar city, in... um... whatever sort of circumstances, made Lu Xiaoxiao feel a little flutter of anticipation.
Sunshine, beaches, waves... Well, we're mainly going there for work, and we won't have time to enjoy it much, but it sounds pretty nice. Surely we can squeeze in a little time?
On the other end, Ji Yunhuai seemed taken aback too, then gave a low chuckle. Through the phone, his deep voice sent a little tickle through her.
