Plot points and events
- After Crown Prince Chu Xuanzhen searches the room and leaves, Shen Yangge emerges from his hiding place with help from Little Bamboo Shoot.
- To ensure Little Bamboo Shoot keeps him hidden, Shen invents a frightening story: people want to eat him to gain immortality. Little Bamboo Shoot believes him and promises to protect him.
- The next morning, Little Bamboo Shoot learns that everyone at the Imperial Medical Bureau will be inspected following a serious incident. Shen fears the search is connected to his escape and reluctantly agrees to go with Little Bamboo Shoot, who suggests he blend in with newly arrived apprentices.
