Hua Jian thought something was odd.
Bo Lin and Qi Fanling had huddled together and whispered about something.
After that, Bo Lin never looked in the rearview mirror again.
Hua Jian never met Bo Lin's eyes again, either.
An hour later, the car pulled into the Qi Family Villa.
This time, the person waiting in the courtyard was not Housekeeper Chen, but an unfamiliar woman in her fifties.
Her hair, threaded with gray, was impeccably combed and pinned up. She wore a black skirt suit and had a gentle expression.
"Fanling, this is the new housekeeper Granny that Uncle found for you."
Bo Lin looked at the little girl standing cautiously beside his legs, his heart softening.
He gently rubbed the top of her head. "You don't know housekeeper Granny very well yet, so Little Flower Uncle and I will stay with you for the next few days, all right?"
Qi Fanling looked a little nervous. She looked up at Bo Lin and asked, "Uncle, where did Grandpa Chen go? Won't she live with Fanling anymore?"
Bo Lin's expression remained unchanged. "That's right. Do you remember how Grandpa Chen's grandson was a little naughty? She had to go home and straighten him out."
Qi Fanling nodded thoughtfully. "Then Grandpa Chen has a lot of hard work to do."
Noticing that her grip on his clothes had loosened a little, Bo Lin bent down and gently pinched her soft cheek. "Shall Uncle introduce you to your new housekeeper Granny?"
Qi Fanling's dark eyes timidly turned toward the smiling housekeeper Granny, as though studying her.
Bo Lin and Hua Jian waited patiently.
The new housekeeper also kept smiling encouragingly at Qi Fanling.
After an indeterminate stretch of time, Qi Fanling finally gave a tiny nod.
The housekeeper, Ms. Feng, let out an
