Just then, the doctor Madam Rong had sent a servant to fetch arrived.
One look at the scene told Doctor Han something was wrong. But since he was already there, he could hardly turn around and leave, so he stood obediently to one side and waited.
At that moment, several older serving women emerged from the room, carrying a letter and a small paper packet.
They handed everything to Lord Rong before stepping aside.
The moment Rong Feifei saw those two items, her face turned deathly pale. She knew she was finished!
Lord Rong opened the small paper packet, glanced at Doctor Han beside him, and handed it straight to him.
"Doctor Han, take a look. What is this?"
Seeing this, Doctor Han felt he should never have come. Had he stumbled into some sort of conspiracy?
With trembling hands, Doctor Han took the packet and carefully examined its contents. Only after a moment did he speak.
"M-my lord, this is an aphrodisiac powder used for breeding animals."
The elderly doctor had barely finished speaking when Rong Feifei shouted in disbelief.
"You're lying! This is clearly a powder that helps women conceive!"
The elderly doctor bristled at once. Someone dared question his medical expertise? He had practiced medicine for decades and treated countless patients without making a mistake. Who did she think she was looking down on?
Doctor Han's fear vanished, replaced by a sudden surge of anger.
"I am telling the truth. This is an aphrodisiac powder used for breeding animals.
"If you don't believe me, you may invite another doctor to identify it."
Lord Rong already knew the truth. This matched what those letters had said, so of course he believed Doctor Han.
Lord Rong nodded.
"Of course we believe you, Doctor Han.
"But please keep what happened today strictly to yourself."
"Of course."
Lord Rong then had someone pay the consultation fee and escort Doctor Han out of the residence.
After Doctor Han left, Lord Rong opened the letter and began to read.
The letter was short. It expressed longing and love for the Third Prince, then asked him to meet at their usual place!
After reading it, Lord Rong handed the letter to Madam Rong beside him.
Lord Rong strode over and kicked Rong Feifei to the ground, cursing.
"You shameless wretch! You bought an aphrodisiac meant for breeding animals and arranged to meet the Third Prince. What were you planning to do?
"Never mind how shamelessly you seduced your own brother-in-law. Let's talk about this powder.
"Do you know that using something like this on a person could kill them if anything went wrong?
"Were you trying to murder the prince?
"No one will stop you if you want to die, but you were about to drag all nine branches of the Rong Family into the grave with you!"
At this, Rong Feifei began to panic.
"No, I wasn't! I never meant to harm the Third Prince.
"I only wanted to enter his household and bear him a child as soon as possible.
"I thought this was a powder that would help women conceive.
"That's right! That doctor deceived me. This isn't my fault!"
Lord Rong grew even angrier. He raised his leg and kicked Rong Feifei again, sending her sprawling facedown.
"You did wrong, and you still dare make excuses! Is this how we raised you?"
He had not held back at all with that kick. Rong Feifei lay on the ground, unable to get up for a long time.
Just then, Concubine An stumbled in, dropped to her knees, and repeatedly knocked her forehead against the ground.
"My lord, Madam, the third young miss is still young. She knows she was wrong. Please spare her this once!"
The sight of Concubine An only enraged Rong Ping further. Every one of these rotten ideas had come from this woman. She was a scourge.
If he kept such a scourge in the residence, there was no telling what greater disaster she might cause in the future.
Lord Rong ignored Concubine An's pleas and ordered her beaten half to death. Then he instructed the steward to sell her off.
Concubine An had never imagined that her pleas would fail and she would be sold off instead.
Struggling to support her battered, bloody body, Concubine An pleaded.
"M-my lord, y-you can't treat me like this. I've been with you for more than ten years. You can't be so heartless!"
Lord Rong looked at her with disgust.
"It is only out of regard for our past affection that I haven't had you beaten to death! Look at what you've done. Merely selling you off is already letting you off lightly!"
Concubine An tried to beg again, but the serving women gagged her and dragged her out.
Rong Feifei was stunned senseless by everything unfolding before her.
She had never imagined her father would sell off even her mother. She had only wanted a better marriage. Why had things come to this?
Unwilling to accept it, Rong Feifei shouted.
"Mother only wanted me to marry well! I only wanted to marry a man of status. What did we do wrong? Why are you treating us like this?"
Lord Rong had yet to decide how to deal with this unfilial daughter. To his disbelief, she showed no remorse and instead dared question them.
His disgust for this concubine-born daughter deepened, but he still spoke.
"There was nothing wrong with wanting to marry well. Your mistake was this: were all the other men in the world dead?
"Why did you have to carry on with your own brother-in-law?
"Even if you were involved with him, how could you dare give the Third Prince that drug? If anything had happened to him, everyone in this residence and the entire Rong Clan would have lost their heads because of you.
"Why didn't you think about how serious the consequences could be before you acted?
"How do you still have the gall to question us?
"Your mother was plotting for you behind the scenes, but she wasn't helping you. She was putting your life at risk-and the lives of the entire Rong Family!"
Rong Feifei knew. She knew all of it. She had only questioned them because she could not accept it. Now that Lord Rong had mercilessly laid everything bare, she lay on the ground, sobbing too hard to speak.
Lord Rong instructed Madam Rong beside him.
"Send this wretched girl to the Manor as soon as possible. Make sure she is watched closely so she cannot cause any more trouble."
"Yes, my lord."
Madam Rong hated this concubine-born daughter to the marrow of her bones. Why had she insisted on stealing her daughter's husband and nearly brought disaster upon the Rong residence?
Now that her husband had given the order and this little hussy had fallen into her hands, she could hardly be blamed for being ruthless.
The next day, Rong Feifei was sent to the Manor. Besides one personal maid, six formidable serving women accompanied her.
This time, Madam Rong was determined to be ruthless. She had specifically chosen several tough serving women and ordered them to serve the third young miss properly once they reached the Manor.
These women were shrewd enough to understand her meaning. They promised they would take very good care of the third young miss.
They might lack other skills, but they had an endless supply of ways to torment people. That was their specialty!
Rong Feifei tried to resist, only to have her hands and feet bound before she was thrown into the carriage.
Days in which Rong Feifei would wish she were dead were about to begin.
