Guagua: [You're right, host. That's how it usually works in ordinary families.
But Du Dali and Liu Jiaoniang were different.]
The screen above Song Yaoyao's head had already lit up. It split in two, showing images of Du Dali and Liu Jiaoniang.
In the video, Du Dali's parents had both been tenant farmers on the Manor. Later, they died of illness one after the other. Du Dali had only been six at the time.
The Du family's relatives said they could lend a hand now and then, but taking Du Dali in was out of the question. They couldn't afford to raise him.
No one was willing to adopt Du Dali, leaving him utterly alone as an orphan.
The estate steward was kindhearted and couldn't bear to watch Du Dali starve to death, so he found jobs around the Manor that a child could handle and let Du Dali do them. That way, he could at least support himself.
With the steward looking out for him, no one dared bully Du Dali, either.
Song Yaoyao: [Steward Hu really is a good man!]
Guagua continued:
[And so, Du Dali grew up.
When he reached marriageable age, he married Liu Jiaoniang, who was also an orphan.
Liu Jiaoniang's circumstances were a little different from Du Dali's.
Liu's Mother died from severe bleeding after giving birth to Liu Jiaoniang.
Liu Jiaoniang grew up with her father, but when she was fourteen, he died in an accident, too.
By then, Liu Jiaoniang was already a young woman who could manage everything both inside and outside the home. Even after her father died, she could still make a good life for herself.
After Du Dali and Liu Jiaoniang married, no one on his side had ever taught him what to do on their wedding night.
