Ch. 181Exposed
Plot points and events
- Song Yaoyao, the Second Prince, and a group of onlookers go to Dai Shubei’s home to investigate Ye Gengming, who has claimed to be paralyzed.
- Song checks Ye’s pulse, then uses acupuncture to provoke him. Ye immediately jumps up, laughing and crying in pain, exposing that he is not paralyzed.
- A man in black appears to protect Ye. Song reveals that he has been hiding in a tree and watching over Ye for years; the Second Prince’s guards restrain him.
- Song tells Dai that Ye has been faking both his paralysis and the ruin of the Ye family, and that the physicians Dai consulted were bribed. The Second Prince says Ye’s father is on his way.
- Two new physicians examine Ye and confirm he has never been paralyzed and is in excellent health.
- Dai confronts Ye, accusing him of deceiving her for three years and making her work herself to exhaustion. She recalls that loan sharks nearly sold her to a brothel that day, and realizes her hope of caring for Ye for life was based on a lie.
