"No need, Uncle Chen. Just stand beside me and teach me," Lin Jingchen suddenly called out to stop him.
"You're going to cook yourself, Mr. Lin?" Uncle Chen sounded incredulous.
"Yes. I have to learn if I'm going to build a home with someone, so I might as well start now." Lin Jingchen's gaze was tender as he spoke.
Though the wind outside was strong and cold, Bai Chen felt warmth spread through his heart.
Lin Jingchen said softly, "Uncle Chen, take Xiao Bai inside first and find him a nice room..."
"Oh, of course, Mr. Lin. But do you really mean inside? But..." Uncle Chen had wanted to ask a few more questions.
Yet Lin Jingchen immediately said, "Yes, inside."
Uncle Chen understood. He turned around and smiled broadly at Bai Chen. "Mr. Xiao Bai, please come this way."
Lin Jingchen also looked at Bai Chen and said gently, "Xiao Bai, go rest in your room with Uncle Chen. You look tired. I'll call you when the food is ready."
A little embarrassed, Bai Chen said, "Why don't I stay and help you? It'll be faster with two of us."
Lin Jingchen shook his head with a smile. "No need. I can manage. Just give me a chance, little boss, to fulfill my duties as your boyfriend."
Bai Chen would always lose himself in Lin Jingchen's gentle tone.
"Then... all right." With that, Bai Chen followed Uncle Chen to the rear courtyard.
Uncle Chen was distracted as they entered the rear courtyard.
The front courtyard could be used to receive more distinguished guests, but the rear courtyard was reserved for the family who owned the estate.
Even honored guests could only stay in the branch family's residence, never the main residence. Only the main family could live there.
