The sound of pages turning filled the quiet room, mingling with the rain outside to offer an almost involuntary sense of peace.
Konan was looking at the Diary before her, her expression unusually grave. She had watched many videos, and the shock had faded from her face only because her expression had gone stiff.
The Diary contained a great deal of important information.
First, Kakashi had been killed in the battle against Pain, and his expression clearly suggested that it was his first time seeing them. Yet in reality, he had offered a bounty for information about their clothing.
That was clearly abnormal. It differed from the video.
It looked very much as though someone had given him a tip. His actions were deliberate.
The second was Uchiha Itachi-or rather, Orochimaru.
She could not tell anything about Uchiha Itachi yet, since the Diary contained no information about him. But Orochimaru...
The Diary had said that he would attack Konoha in the future, with a plan called the Konoha Crush.
But he had already been killed. Had he not actually died?
Or was there some scheme involved? Otherwise, how could he carry out this so-called crush plan when he was no longer around?
Rubbing her chin in thought, Konan recalled the scene of Pain killing Orochimaru. There had not been a trace of panic on his face. He had even looked calm, his eyes still revealing his greed for the Rinnegan.
With such miraculous powers, the Diary did not seem to be lying. That meant something had changed, altering the future.
That was also why she had included Uchiha Itachi in her suspicions. He was the one who had captured Orochimaru, and he too seemed to have received some sort of tip.
