Meanwhile, Cloud Shadow Village had belatedly noticed that something was wrong.
The office in the Raikage Building was packed with people.
The village's Fourth Raikage and Jinchūriki, Killer B, had not shown their faces for half a month.
The Fourth Raikage was one thing; they only saw him occasionally anyway. But the Jinchūriki was always laughing and rapping, and they had even prepared plenty of rotten eggs for him.
All that preparation had been wasted. He never showed up.
And the longer they stayed away, the more the situation would escalate and give rise to other suspicions. These people knew nothing about the plan to attack Konoha, but being kept in the dark all this time had left them rather displeased.
Word of this reached the higher-ups, bringing them here.
The secretary sitting at the head of the table had no choice as so many people glared at him, putting him under pressure. Finally, he nodded and explained in a quiet voice.
"All I know is that Lord Raikage went to Konoha on a secret mission. I know nothing else."
He did not know what had happened afterward, either. He was no Puppeteer. He certainly could not monitor them or receive updates in real time, and he was starting to panic himself.
He had his own suspicions, too. Could the Raikage have been captured? Had Lord Killer B been badly wounded and fled somewhere?
That speculation was not unreasonable.
After all, time was lightning. They should have assassinated a Kage quickly, then launched an all-out war as soon as they returned.
At the very least, they should have torn a chunk of flesh from Konoha.
But nothing had happened.
