Kushina turned toward the guest room doors, her steps light and her red hair dancing in the morning sunlight.
She knocked on a door. "Shizune, breakfast is ready!"
She knocked on several doors in succession, but no one answered.
Meanwhile, Naruto and the two girls carried breakfast into the side room of the main hall to eat.
Naruto felt like a cat tree that two cats had spotted at once and latched onto, leaving him unable to move.
He cleared his throat, trying to ease the tension. "Um... Karin, why did you suddenly come into my room? And..."
"I missed you..."
Karin cut him off, her eyes widening behind her glasses with a wounded look.
"How was I supposed to know I'd walk in and see... see her!"
She pointed at Hikari, particularly at the black jacket she was wearing.
"Wearing your clothes and sleeping in your bed, too!"
At that, Hikari lowered her head to look at the jacket, then looked up at Naruto, her reaction quickly giving way to a cold expression.
"Naruto lent this to me. As for the bed... I don't know either. We weren't even here last night."
"After my shadow clone dispersed, I learned what had happened in the village, so we came straight back last night."
Naruto explained, "The Flying Thunder God mark is in my room. Hikari was already asleep, so I put her on my bed."
He tried to pull his arms free, but both girls tightened their grips.
"You're just too kind, Naruto-kun! Even to people whose backgrounds you know nothing about..."
Karin muttered under her breath.
"I'm not someone with an unknown background."
Hikari's voice was calm but firm.
"I'm Uchiha Hikari. You, on the other hand, barged into someone else's room without knocking. That's rude."
