"He used to be... one of Konoha's people?"
Hikari asked.
She recalled how familiar Naruto had been with the information on Obito, especially such specific details as his ninja registration number. That went far beyond what someone would normally know about an outside enemy.
"Yeah." Naruto nodded, his gaze still fixed on the spot where Obito had disappeared.
"Obito Uchiha. He was once a Konoha ninja and a student of the Fourth Hokage."
The Fourth Hokage-wasn't that Naruto's father?
Naruto continued in the same calm tone, as though recounting a story from the past. "I heard he used to be a bit clumsy and always late, but he had a good heart. He liked helping old ladies cross the street. Among the Uchiha Clan, he was something of an... oddball."
An Uchiha who liked helping old ladies cross the street?
Hikari frowned slightly. She found it hard to reconcile that image with the Uchiha Clan she remembered, or with the Obito she had just seen, with his disfigured half-face, cold eyes, and vicious attacks.
"But later, he took a different path."
Naruto tilted his head slightly. "And on the night of the Nine-Tails' Attack, he personally caused my parents' deaths."
He said it softly, but the weight and coldness in those words seemed to still the air around them for a moment.
Hikari understood immediately.
Naruto had told her before that he was an orphan. To think that the enemy they had just faced was one of the causes of that tragedy.
"So, if you get a chance to aim at his head next time, use Amaterasu."
Naruto drew his gaze back and looked at Hikari beside him.
