Lao Ren cast a sidelong glance at Yui, whose attention was elsewhere, and replied quietly, "Jiaoya, I stumbled across that ninjutsu by chance, but there are conditions for using it."

"Namely, mental energy. If someone lacks enough mental energy and forces themselves to use that ninjutsu, the backlash will kill them. Then we'll be able to escape."

"Oh!" Jiaoya's mouth fell open, his face brimming with delight. He gave a thumbs-up and said, "I knew I could count on you, Lao Ren."

Yui read through the scroll and nodded to herself. There were no traps in this cursed seal; it would probably just consume a fair amount of mental energy.

For her, the mental energy requirement was hardly a problem. Needing her own heart vein blood, however, was a little tricky.

After some thought, she decided to go for it. She pressed two fingers together, gathered wind release chakra at their tips, and thrust them into her chest. Blood splattered at once, and she couldn't help frowning.

Taking a deep breath, she pulled her arm back, drawing out a stream of blood with the motion and gathering it in front of her. Wisps of smoke rose from the wound in her chest, and it healed completely in the blink of an eye.

"What's going on?" Jiaoya and Lao Ren stared at Yui's movements, stunned. They had never imagined that such a powerful constitution existed, one that allowed wounds to heal in an instant.

Before they could work out why, two drops of dark red blood flew toward them and, beneath their astonished gazes, sank into their chests.

Their pupils contracted. They sensed something terrible happening and looked ahead.
