"Ah!!!"
Yui wasn't frightened at all. Xiao You, on the other hand, seemed genuinely terrified, squeezing its eyes shut and screaming at the top of its lungs. The piercing sound made her eardrums ache.
Yui had no time to worry about that. The moment she saw the thing that looked like a transparent plastic bag, she struck.
Gripping Hakutaku, she swiftly drew the blade and slashed.
The long blade unleashed a graceful crescent of white light in the darkness, striking the transparent figure. Yet she felt no resistance whatsoever, as though she hadn't hit anything at all.
"What..." Stunned for an instant, Yui immediately backed away to a safe distance without further hesitation.
"Yui, a ghost! It's a ghost!"
Xiao You's shrieks were getting on Yui's nerves. With a quick movement, she pulled Xiao You out and stuffed it into her sleeve.
She added, "Hide in there, Xiao You. If you can't see that thing, you shouldn't be scared anymore."
With its vision plunged into darkness, Xiao You's pounding heart immediately settled down considerably. The sense of safety surrounding it eased much of its panic, though it still worried about Yui.
"Yui, that thing really does seem to be a ghost. Be careful!" it reminded her in a hushed voice, regardless of whether she could hear it.
Facing this transparent, plastic-bag-like thing, Yui's expression grew somewhat grave. Just as Xiao You had said, it was like a ghost, flickering in and out of sight as it floated in midair, with two round hollows that resembled eyes.
"Ohoho! Yui Hyuga, look! You can't hit me, can you?"
Realizing it was completely unharmed, the transparent figure immediately grew smug. It bobbed back and forth in midair, looking thoroughly delighted.
"What exactly are you? You even know my name." Yui frowned, momentarily startled
