Yui froze, then focused her gaze. In an instant, she recognized the mass of white material.
"Damn it, is that spider silk?"
Instinctively, she went on full alert, scanning her surroundings with her Byakugan. At the same time, an elusive black shadow shot toward her from behind at incredible speed!
The moment she sensed it, a chill surged from her feet through her entire body. Instinctively anticipating its movement, she ducked to evade the attack.
With a whoosh, the black shadow swept past her side. Its attack struck the spider silk blocking her path and sliced it to shreds with a tearing crash.
"A perfect opening..." Seeing the shredded barrier of spider silk before her, Yui prepared to use the Body Flicker Technique and dash into the Cave.
Before she could actually perform the ninjutsu, however, a mass of white material flew straight at her. She could tell it was the same spider silk that had blocked her path moments earlier.
If that hit her, she would probably be stuck fast right where she stood.
With no other choice, Yui temporarily abandoned her plan to rush into the Cave. She sidestepped the incoming silk, then rolled backward to put some distance between herself and her opponent.
"Another giant spider?" Yui came to a stop, staring grimly at the enormous figure before her. "Damn it, it's fast!"
"I knew there would be danger, but it still caught me off guard!" She took a deep breath. She had probably figured out how it had concealed itself nearby.
She had been careless, forgetting that the giant spider could hide inside its silk. Since this was another giant spider, it should likewise be able to hide in the silk and move rapidly through it.
